Voice Mail System (VMS)

The voice mailbox is a voice guided answering machine and can provide storage and drawing of voice messages as well as auxiliary functions. The voice mailbox number corresponds to the CDMA subscriber number itself. The mailbox owner can only draw any message left in the mailbox. You can use your VMS if you are not able to attend every call.

Activating your Mailbox

After subscription to VMS you can divert your incoming call to VMS on following different conditions.

Call Forwarding to VMS when Busy
If you are busy attending a call and in the same time if new call comes your new calls will be diverted to VMS if you set this facility.

To activate this facility Dial *90+8
To deactivate this facility Dial *900

Call Forwarding to VMS when No Answer
If there is no one to attend the incoming call then you can set to divert the incoming call to VMS after X ring tones.

To activate this facility Dial *92+8
To deactivate this facility Dial *920

Activating/Deactivating Mailbox

Call Forwarding Default
When setting this facility your calls will be diverted to VMS when Busy, No Answer and when you reject a call conditions

To activate this facility Dial *68+8
To deactivate this facility Dial *680

Unconditional Call Forwarding to VMS
If you want your every incoming call to divert to your VMS then you can set this facility.

To activate this facility Dial *72+8
To deactivate this facility Dial *720

Using your Mailbox

Direct Retrieval (1616)
If you are using your own CDMA set to retrieve your Messages it is recommended that you use direct retrieval process. Dial 1616 and follow the voice instructions to access your mailbox.

Your mailbox has capacity of storing only 10 messages. After 10 unread/undeleted messages your mailbox stops storing new messages. Please make sure that you delete the listened messages so that your mailbox is cable of recording new messages. Please read 'Deleting Messages' for detail. To ensure proper functioning of your mailbox, please make habit of checking your mailbox regularly.

Indirect Retrieval (1611, 1612, 1617)
If you are away from your home / unable to use your own
CDMA set to access your mailbox then you can use other Nepal Telecom PSTN/CDMA set to retrieve your Mailbox.

For accessing VMS distributed in
Central Development Region (CDR) Dial 1611
Eastern Development Region (EDR) Dial 1612.
Western Development Region (WD R) Dial 1617.

After Dialing the above access number you will be prompted to enter your Voice mailbox number (CDMA number) and VMS password by voice guided announcement.

When you first subscribe the VMS the default password is 1234. Please change the password immediately for security reason. Please read 'Changing your VMS password for detail'.

Note: This service is accessible only from Nepal Telecom's Network

Direct Deposit (1615+DN)
If you do not want to make call but only leave a message to others' mailbox then dial 1615+DN and follow the voice instruction. Here DN is Mailbox or CDMA number.

Basic functions

Managing messages
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
    If there are new messages, the system will play the messages. You can select 1 to hear old messages.

  • Press 1 to retrieve messages. You can select following menu to manage the messages
    Delete Press 1 to delete the message
    Save Press 2 to save the message
    << Press 3 to listen previous message
    >> Press 4 to listen next message
    Reply Press 5 to reply the message
    Info Press 6 to get arriving time and sender's number

Forward Press 7 to forward the message
Replay Press 9 to listen to the message again
Deleting all messages
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
  • Press 7 to delete all messages

  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
  • Press 3 to play all messages
Timed mailing

The mailbox owner records a greeting message (only one) in the mailbox or uses one of the system greeting messages, and set the mailing date, time and the telephone number of the called subscriber (there may be more than one) for the message. When the set date and time arrive, the mailbox system will automatically make a call to the receiver.

Voice Message notification
You can set notification mode whenever you have new message in your mailbox.

Setting notification by Call
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
  • Press 9 to select mailbox management
  • Press 2 to set notification
  • Press 1 to set notification by call
  • Press 1 to activate or deactivate the phone notification
  • Press 2 to change Phone number

  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement

Setting you VMS

Help You can use help announcement of your VMS to get brief description of the different facilities and settings
  • Dial 1616 and listen the announcement.
  • Press 0 to get Brief description help.
Changing your VMS password
Follow the voice instruction carefully to change the password.
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement.
  • Press 9 to set mailbox.
  • Press 3 to change your password.
  • Please enter your new 4-digit password then press # key to end.
  • Press # again to conform.
    Your new password will be set to your Voice Mailbox.
Note: If you are unable to change your password or access your mailbox please contact your nearest customer care center.

Setting you VMS Setting Greetings

You can record your own personal greeting or choose one of five pre-recorded system greetings.

Procedure: System Greeting
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
  • Press 9 to set mailbox
  • Press 1 to set greetings
  • Press 1 to choose System greeting
    1. "Welcome to Nepal Telecom Voice mail box service"
    2. "Hello, Please leave message for me"
    3. "Sorry, the number you dialed cannot be accessed temporally"
    4. "Welcome to Nepal Telecom Voice mail box service"
    5. "Please Hold on"
Setting Greetings
Procedure: Recording Personal Greeting
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
  • Press 9 to set mailbox
  • Press 1 to set greetings
  • Press 2 to set personal greeting
  • Press 1 to record your greeting
    You can record up to 40 seconds long greeting
    After recording press 1 to set it as your greeting or press 2 to re-record


Setting Fast access
If you disable fast access, you will be required to enter your mailbox password even when you are retrieving your voice mail from your own CDMA set.

Procedure
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
  • Press 5 to set fast access
  • Press 1 to change current state
Setting you VMS

Setting Language
You can choose either Nepali or English as your announcement language. You can change the language any time.

Procedure:
  • Dial 1616 and wait for voice announcement
  • Press 9 to select mailbox management
  • Press 6 to select language
Press 1 for Nepali or Press 2 for English
